One Room Challenge Fall 2020 | Week Three

Hello !!!

Well I can’t believe we have hit the Half way point which is both petrifying and exhilarating. hahaha.

Where I thought we would be in week three and where we are in week three are two different things. Due to Covid there has been a few hiccups with shipping products and delivery schedules, as well as kids and quarantine and such. C’est la vie!

Here is what I can show you so far. We have added the molding to the walls that one of my amazing sponsors supplied ( Windsor Plywood Sherwood Park) They are amazing humans and they also have an amazing IG feed! Check them out here. Here is a little bit of that process. Last off, I had one coat of paint on the walls ( ballet white by Benjamin Moore)

Next we figured out the layout we were going for. I decided to use painters tape and landed on the one big rectangle as opposed to a chair rail separation with bigger on top and smaller on the bottom. I think that it compliments the space better and helps draw the eye up creating more visual height.

Next we found the centre of each wall and measured out from there making sure that the molding was centered and equally spaced out.

the “C” written on the floor is centre of the wall.

Next we used a tape measure and level to get all the lines drawn in with pencil.

Next was measuring the strips of moulding and cutting them on 45 degree angles so they lined up beautifully. We did the tops and bottoms first by using wood glue and a brad nailer. Following the pencil lines that were already drawn on.

Here is a look at the tops and bottoms complete.

Next we added the final side pieces. Then we added the window casing and trim and sanded the edges so they sat nicely together.

Final step was filling all the holes in the mouldings with a fill stick purchased from Home Depot and then DAP ( paintable silicone) for the edges along the window and ceilings. Then we painted!!!!! I am so happy with the outcome!

The ceiling and walls are all painted in Ballet white.

Yay! Well we are about to start the flooring that was dropped off by Monarch Flooring and I AM SO FREAKING EXCITEDDDDDD!

So I will keep you updated over on IG until next week! Follow me over there if you are interested!
